Amos and Andy: Freeman Gosden and Charles Correll made their debut on radio on January 12, 1926, as the blackface characters Sam 'n' Henry. The program was carried on WGN, Chicago. On March 19, 1928, over WMAQ, Chicago, the introduced Amos 'n' Andy, which went on to become one of the most popular and longest-running programs in radio history. The series ran six nights a week for a while, then five nights. During the height of its popularity almos the entire country listened to Amos 'n' Andy. In 1943, the boys revamped the series and converted it to a slickly produced half-hour show.The new sponsor was Lever Brothers and the product was Rinso. The first half-hour broadcast was October 8, 1943. This collection includes 20 half-hour shows with original commercials.
